Greek Champions who promised to lay life for goddess Demeter in Mortal Arena

Demeter’s life story is closely knitted with the emergence of Mortal Arena. Persephone, whose kidnapping caused the trouble between Olympian gods, is the daughter of Demeter.

Demeter, the middle daughter of Cronus and Rhea was the goddess of grain and agriculture, one of the original twelve Olympians. Her beloved daughter Persephone was taken away by Hades. Since Persephone has to spend one-third of the year in the underworld with her husband Hades, the grief of Demeter causes winter. Although her daughters’ return coincides with fertile spring and summer months as well.

Demeter and her heroes

Demeter has a grudge against everybody who caused trouble to herself and her beloved daughter Persephone. She chose 4 brave Greek heroes to take her revenge and win the crown of heaven. These heroes are- Jason, Atalanta, Alope and Chione.

Jason (Legendary Hero)

Jason, the son of Aeson and Alcimede of Iolcus, was an unconventional hero. His half-uncle tried to kill him as a child but remained unsuccessful. When he grew up his uncle sent him for the impossible task of fetching the Golden Fleece from Colchis.

Jason built a ship, assembled a fleet and successfully retrieved the Golden Fleece. He has been exceptionally lucky all his life to have blessings to gods and goddesses.

Atalanta (Epic Hero)

Despite having a difficult childhood, Atalanta went on to become one of the best hunters of her time. From shooting to wrestling contests, she gained more fame every passing day.

She achieved enough that her father forgave her for not being a son and allowed her to return home. Her father tried to find her a husband and as she was obliged hence she proposed a difficult test. Melanion fell in love with her and won the test with help of Aphrodite. They got married and had a blissful marriage.

Chione (Common Hero)

How often do you come across a mortal who was desired by mortals and immortals equally? Chione’s beauty infatuated gods like Apollo and Hermes and they tricked and slept with her.

Having charmed two gods, Chione was naturally boastful of her beauty and made a comparison to Artemis. That’s where a great Greek hero like Chione invited the wrath of an Olympian god.

Alope (Common Hero)

Alope was the tragic princess of Eleusis, daughter of King Cercyon and lover of Poseidon. As she grew up, her enchanting beauty caught the eye of the Greek god Poseidon. He transformed himself and had his way. As a result, Alope became pregnant and gave birth to a son.

Her life story after that is only struggle and tears. But instead of giving up she decided to fight in Mortal Arena under the wings of goddess Demeter.
