MORTAL ARENA BACK-STORY: ZEUS AND HIS HEROES
Zeus chooses his Greek heroes!
After the Olympian gods decided to stop fighting amongst themselves, they started recruiting Greek heroes to fight for them. Zeus- the Olympian god of the sky and the thunder, the king of all the other gods and mortals chose his heroes first.
Zeus is infamous for his infidelity and numerous erotic affairs. He is the ruler of the heavens and the governor of the weather. He is also associated with wisdom, awareness, authority, destiny, battles and power. ‘Warlike’, ‘oath-keeper’, ‘guest-patron’, ‘All-Greek’, and ‘saviour’ are some of his epithets.
He chose his representatives from 2 Legendary, 1 Epic and 1 Common heroes. They are namely Heracles, Alexander, Sarpedon and Iolaus.
Heracles (Legendary Hero)
Heracles is popularly known as Hercules- the greatest of all Greek heroes. He was the epitome of bravery and masculinity in the ancient world. He is known as the most notable champion of the Olympian order, which he protected from various monsters and villains.
The magnitude of his 12 labours is of enormous order that earned him the prize of immortality. There’s a reason why he’s chosen by the supreme god Zeus. He is one of the most iconic figures of all Greek mythology.
Alexander (Legendary Hero)
Alexander’s complete name is Alexander III of Macedon but people popularly know him as Alexander the Great. He has divine parentage through his mother Olympias’ encounter with the god Zeus.
Being a demigod he has ambitions worthy of his parentage and glorious wins. His bold, lion-like personality makes him undefeatable. His invasion techniques are so successful that they will continue to influence military academies in the far future. Many disregard his ruthless nature but this is what makes him great. He is a proud Greek.
Sarpedon (Epic Hero)
Sarpedon is also known as the defender of Troy. During the Trojan War, he was one of the most highly regarded defenders of Troy. Being son of Zeus and Europe, Serpedon is a demigod with enormous powers.
The world will remember him for honoring the pledge he made to his homeland-Troy.
Iolaus (Common Hero)
Iolaus was the nephew of the Greek hero Heracles and he also served as his charioteer and a trusted companion. He followed Heracles during most of his adventures and often acted as his charioteer and weapon bearer. Iolaus helped Heracles when he was struggling with the second Labour set by King Eurystheus, the slaying of the Lernaean Hydra.
Now this nephew-uncle duo will fight against other Greek heroes for god Zeus.
